Compact & Repair Removing Groups from File Security Properties

We have an Access 2003 database that we backup every week on a floppy for
offsight storage. Hence, we need to compact & repair this database every few
weeks or so. However, whenever we do a Compact & Repair, the users group
that is assigned FULL ACCESS to the file, is REMOVED from the Security
properties of that file. Once we re-add their group and grant full access,
they are fine until we compact it again. I know this should not be
happening. Does anyone know why a compact & repair would remove a users
group's rights? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Yes. The problem is your operating system, not the compact and repair from
Access or Jet. Please see Michael Kaplan's article, "Access/Jet Compact and
NT File Permissions!" on the following Web page:

To be frank, I eally am not sure how to do what you are suggesting. This
problem was thrown to me, so I am looking for an easy fix, if there is one.
If there are any more suggestions, please let me know. I apologize for the
ignorance. Thanks in advance.

Did you look at the link Gunny provided? Near the bottom (in the "Solutions"
section) is a link to complete code.
