Has anyone used the Comodo A-V or firewall or both? They are available
here:

Highly touted on a local tv station's computer segment, but I haven't read
any reviews from computer mags. Just wondering if any of this ng's readers
can comment on its use. Thanks. JG

I've used them both, and removed them very quickly, to much false
warnings.

I am using the firewall on an old W2K laptop - so far so good. I am
still getting used to it and am configuring permissions and rules. It
seems to be pretty straightforward, and does not seem to slow my
connection or computer down any.

The firewall is ok and has promise. The AV used huge amounts of ram and
detection was pretty poor according to some user's tests, as it's still
very early in development and needs much improving. I tried both for a
short period and then removed them.

I use Comodo Personal Firewall since about three weeks, after a heavy
fight with the latest version of ZoneAlarm (I lost ).
I think it's by far the best firewall I know, but it still has some
glitches. They're pretty supportive. I put a problem on the forum and
twenty minutes later I had a reply. Not a solution, they asked for more
info, but 20 minutes is pretty fast.
It's the only firewall I know that passed all leak tests (I did them
myself).
But since a firewall is pretty important, I'm still a bit suspicious.

PC Magazine's Neil Rubenking reviewed the firewall on May 30 (4.5/5)

We've been using it on our laptops (mix of win2k sp4 rollup and xp sp2)
for the last 3 months. It doesn't take a lot of resouces, the
granularity of rule-making is quite refined. It does seem to "forget"
an already-approved event from time to time (ie mozilla as server) but,
by and large, we're satisifed.

We've run our lappies on the leak tests as well. No problems.

The only gripe, and it's minor, is the their "app manager" (forget its
name). Essentially, you have to launch it to get to managing the actual
app. Small hassle though.
