My ISP no longer supports newsgroups(I used to use xp support).
I am now trying to come here to ask a question then come back later to
search for the answer. Will this work? Is there a no charge easier way?
Thank you

Your ISP may have blocked use of newsgroups
via Outlook Express but posting a question via
Internet/Web based access to this newsgroup
(which you did) should be a no charge item from
your ISP.

You can use Outlook Express as your newsreader, and use msnews.microsoft.com
as the server name. After connecting, pick the groups you want to subscribe
to.

Just use your news reader and point it to the news.microsoft.com server.
You can make connections or setup accounts to as many different news
servers as you please. You can connect to the xp general group by
clicking here:
news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsof...dowsxp.general

What you mean, I assume, is that your ISP no longer provides a free
news server. That's OK, you don't need theirs, since many others are
available.

You are now using the awful web interface to participate in this
newsgroup--it's the slowest, clunkiest, most error-prone method of
using the newsgroups there is. Do yourself a favor and switch to a
newsreader, such as Outlook Express, which comes with Windows XP, or
Windows Mail, which comes with Vista. See
http://www.michaelstevenstech.com/ou...snewreader.htm

You can get to this newsgroup using the free Microsoft server
msnews.microsoft.com. If you also want general newsgroups, not just
Microsoft ones, there are many other servers you can choose from; some
of them are free and good, such as Motzarella (go to
news.motzarella.org).
