32 bit vista home premium.

control panel>problem reports and solutions.

"Service Admin Works Agent X8 hung on starting" is a common incident., and
has been so for 5 weeks.

notwithstanding that I have no idea what awServ.exe is, to what extent might
this cause a problem -- might it indicate an infection? be the cause for
onecare firewall's unceremonious cessation?

windows mail server did not allow me to attach the .jpg showing the
details.

Google is a good resource when trying to get info on a file. From a Google
search:

http://www.liutilities.com/products/...ibrary/awserv/

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q...=Google+Search

http://www.bomara.com/avocent/adminworks.htm

From Rock's Google search returns, this looks like it's probably crapware
installed on your computer by the manufacturer or vendor so they can remote
into your box if you need support. If you have AdminWorks installed, take a
look and see if you can stop it from loading when you boot. There might be a
choice within the software itself or you may have to look in your startup
folder for a shortcut that points to the exe to start it or you may have to
look in the registry for an entry in the Run key. So... is AdminWorks
installed?
