Comments appearing on printed handouts

I am using PPT 2000- SR-1. When the slides are printed as handouts,
the comments from an earlier version show-up. I tried the really obvious, but
for some reason, ppt won't let me delete the comments. The comments show after
being run into a PDF file and then printed. Any suggestions on losing the
comments and/or convincing PPT to let me delete them?

Was the presentation created in a different version of PPT?

And please give us a little more detail: what does PPT do to prevent you from
deleting the comments? Do they still appear in PPT or do they only show up when
you print the PDF that you made? Do they also show up IN the PDF? How did you
make the PDF? Stuff like that.

I did not create but I did not get any of the usual "this is a different
version" box when I saved it.

On the tool bar, the button that says delete comment stays grey as does
the similar drop down menu. This stays the same even after I click on the
comment itself and stays the same even after I toggle the show/hide button to
either show or hide.
When I print the slides the comments don't show up in PPT. As for the PDF,
I don't know that is the graphic artist.

It sounds as though you're using PowerPoint 2002 or 2003 but have a file that was
created in an earlier version. Earlier versions create comments in a very
different way. You can't delete them using the toolbar in PPT 2002/2003. But
click one and press Delete and it's gone.
