Command prompt Problem in Winodws Xp Professional

We have Windows XP professional . When I give , CMD command at Start->Run .
Computer Displays C:> Prompt. But after sometime when I gave Exit command ,
Computer display blank screen. Can anybody tell me that How to solve this
problem ?
