Command object providing a form's query parameter

I have a form that is based on a query that requires one
user paramter.

How do I set this parameter from within a VBA routine?

Presumably it is done by implementing a command object,
but I have tried with this on a form open event and am
getting nowhere.

Thanks

Jack
