I am wondering if there are any command line switches
that force the program to run and do a scan upon running
the program.

Try this, not guranteed:
Locate gcasDtServ.exe and double click. Add a shortcut gcasDtServ.exe to
your Desktop. Oddly when you double click the shortcut it doesn't start
MSAS but places an icon in the Notification Area of the Taskbar. Double
click on that and MSAS starts.

I'm guessing its this one:
"Are there any command line arguments available?" (
*.exe -scan -schedule -withui -withresultsui)
