I have a shortcut with the following Target:
"C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\OFFICE11\OUTLOOK.EXE" /explorer
outlook:Inbox /recycle
This used to work with Outlook 2003, switching to the Inbox in the existing
Outlook window (if one exists). Since installing SP3 this has stopped
working, producing the error message "The command line argument is not valid.
Verify the switch you are using".
The Help for command-line switches still includes the /recycle switch, with
the comment "used in combination with /explorer or /folder", but neither the
/explorer nor the /folder switch is listed anymore. Using the /recycle switch
on its own produces no errors, opening the Outlook Today view in the existing
Outlook window. Using the /explorer switch on its own produces no errors,
opening the Outlook Today view in a new Outlook window, but following the
/explorer switch with outlook:Inbox or outlook:Calendar produces the same
error.
The Help mentions a /select switch, which works (opening a new window) with
outlook:Inbox, but produces the same error if combined with the /recycle
switch.
