When I try to install C&C Generals, I get an error

1608: Unable to create InstallDriver instance,
Return Code:-2147467262

It happens when my Windows Installer starts up. I don't
know how to fix it but any help would be greatly
appreciated.

The first solution says:

Launch the file Iscript.msi file, which should in the
same directory as the InstallShield Express 3.5 SP4
setup. This launches the InstallScript engine
installation separately. Run the InstallShield Express
setup again after running Isscript.msi

When I try to search for the file, Iscript.msi, it
doesn't exist on my computer.. I can't find it anywhere.
And when I try the second resolution:

On some machines, the DCOM Configuration may not be set
properly. Follow the steps below to set the appropriate
settings. This is only for Win NT/ Win 2000 or Win XP
machines

When I try to run "dcomconfg", I get the error:

Snap-in failed to intialize.
Name:Event Viewer
CLSID:{97579FC-4E2A-11D0-B702-00C04FD8DBF7}

From the Microsoft Management Console

Again, any suggestions as to a solution to my problems
would be GREATLY appreciated.

P.S. Thanks for Replying to my First post.

Hi Lee,

Sorry for the delay, I just wanted to put together a complete
document for you. It took some time, but it should solve your
problem. I hope you find it useful, and best of luck to you! :-)

Here's how to correct problems with InstallShield Setup programs:

1. Update to the Latest InstallShield Installation Engines:
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108322

2. Acquire Administrative Privileges on Your Computer
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108379

3. Detect and End Previously Running Installation Processes
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108393

4. Install the InstallShield iKernal software:
http://consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108497

5. To see if it's a software conflict: Temporarily disable Startup
programs one at a time, starting with Firewall, Antivirus, and ad
blockers using: http://new.jtsoft2001.com/windows/startup.php

You can lookup what a program does before you disable it here:
http://www.pacs-portal.co.uk/startup...artup_full.htm

6. Run a virus scan at: http://housecall.antivirus.com Afterwards
Download & Run Spybot from: http://security.kolla.de to find any
Trojans, Adware, or Spyware which could clog up your system.

7. Click My Computer / Rightclick the Drive & Choose Properties
/ Run the "Disk Cleanup..." / Next Click the "Tools" Tab and run
the "Error-Checking" and "Defragmentation" utilities.

8. Configure the DCOM Settings on Your Computer
