I am the only user on my machine. When I bring the system up from
standby/hibernate I have to click on the "administrator" icon. How do I set
my system to go directly to the desktop from hibernate/standby?

Open Power Options Properties...
Start | Run | Type: powercfg.cpl | Click OK |
Advanced tab | UNCheck:
Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby |
Click Apply | Click OK

Prompt for password when computer resumes from standby
[[Prompts you for your Windows password when you bring your computer out of
standby.]]

Start > Run > Type :
"desk.cpl ,1" (Without quotes)
Uncheck "On Resume, Password protect"
Click "Power" > "Advanced" tab
Uncheck "Prompt for password....."
Click OK twice

You should not use the built in Administrator account for day to day
activities. Sometimes an account get's corrupted and that's where the
Administrator account comes in. Keep in in reserve for use if something
corrupts the normal working account. If the Administrator account get's
corrupted through daily use, you might not be able to login to windows.

Create another account with admin level privileges and either use that or
create a third account with limited privileges and use that for normal day
to day activities. You can copy the data and settings from the
Administrator account to the new account after it's created. Make sure you
login to that new account at least once, then copy the info from the
Administrator account.
