Because the selected value is displayed in the box.
Maybe you need a Listbox?

Michael,

Can you please use this big white space to give us a wee bit more
information, like...

a. Access version?
b. Entering into the field or tabbing into the field or both?
c. Is there code that you have used to set it bold or is the field just set
to bold?

there are two other combos on the form that do not do this. the 5 that are
grouped together do it. i have selected the 5 and viewed all of the
properties then toggle clicked the one that does retain the bold after
selection to see i noticed anythig different. nothing different.
when i added a new combobox it behaves as expected. stays bold.

Michael,

Okay, just tested in both and see no issue... Is there anything in the
After_Update of the combo box? Can you copy/paste that here?

Does this happen if you set a text box to bold?

As a side note, do not use your real eMail address, the Spammers will
harvest.

I'd try removing the combo box and re-adding it. But check to see what events
are linked to the combo box.

i don't use my rea; addy. spammers got a hold of it many years ago so i
changed ISPs, but kept the addy for news groups.

i advised the person i was helping to just add new controls. she seemed
pleased.

thanks.
