Combo drive failing to run disks.

Hi,

Can anyone shed some light on a problem i've been
experiencing for a while.
My samsung 408 cd/dvd combi drive finds it hard to
recognize a disk is present. Some disks seem worse than
others but may be just coincidence. Basically if I put a
disk in , the drive light flashes and I hear it spin, but
more often than not it stops and nothing happens, the
disk is not recognised. Eventually a disk will play but
might take 50 or more attempts.

I've had suggestions ranging from SecuROM doesnt like
combi drives to its dirty, but I tried cleaning.

I am gratefull for any help you can offer, even if its
just to go get a new drive,but dont want to buy another
drive if my current one is not faulty.
