COM Surrogate stopped working

In the past dya or two I have started getting thhis error message pretty
frequently. I have no idea what it means, except that a google search
suggested it is a Vista issue--and I have Win XP Pro SP2, not Vista. I
haven't noticed anything going wrong even after clicking OK on the message.
Does anybody know what this is? and whether I need to do anytihng?
