com port unavailable message

I recently upgraded my motherboard, chip, and memory. I have a P4 2.4,
512mb, and xp home. Since I've upgraded I can't hotsync my palm. I get a
message that says the port is unavailable and will be opened when it is
available. I have checked in device manager and it says the port is working
ok with default properties of address 3f8 and irq4. I have uninstalled the
port and rebooted, and I have uninstalled the palm desktop software and
reinstalled it to no avail. Any ideas?
