i have an old pc with windows 98 running connected to a device via com port.
everything works great.
now, i replaced that with a new pc running XP and i cant get it working
through com port.
done all i can remember, slowing down baud rate on xp, tweaking in bios, etc
etc.
so i installed vmware on that machine, created a new virtual machine and
installed w98.
it connects great as before.
but what i want is to comunicate natively in xp, not having to use
xp->vmware->w95
has anyone has any idea?

Every Windows NT based versions (NT, 2000, XP, Vista and 2003) do not
let you directly access the hardware (which includes COM ports and
Parallel ports.) You need to be able to find a separate kernel device
driver which will let you use the COM ports as before.

Maybe this is a system clock resolution issue.
To test this quickly, run the Windows media player together with your app,
playing some mp3.
The player tweaks the timer resolution to the max. if this helps, post reply
here.
