I have recently upgraded my HP Vectra VL 6 Series 7 PC
form Windows 98 to Windows XP. Everything works fine,
except my COM ports now have conflicts. Hardware Device
Manager driver details show the following: "This device
is disabled because the firmware of the device did not
give it the required resources. (Code 29)." My COM ports
are part of my System board and they worked fine before
the upgrade.

How can I fix this problem?

My research on Microsoft Tech Net and other sites has yet
to yield any results, other than there are a multitude of
custmers who have the same problem too! I hope someone
out ther actually has a working solution.

Sincerely,

John Torres
