column width in autoformatted pivot table

i have chosen an autoformat for my pivot table, but would like to change the
column width (also after refreshing).
is this possible?

From Debra Dalgleish:

Right-click a cell in the pivot table, and choose Table Options
Ensure that Preserve Formatting is turned on, and AutoFormat is turned off, then click OK

this however removes all the formatting of the table, which is what i would
like to avoid.
i guess it is not possible to customise an autoformat then?

Another option is recording a macro where you set the column widths, and then run the macro after
the table refresh.

Another option is to insert a blank row above your pivot table and add
characters to the cells to achieve the correct column width when the column
is autofit. Since auto format autofits the columns you will ned up with the
correct spacing...
