Periodically, my inbox's "From" header gets replaced with "To", or my Sent
box's "To" is replaced with "From". I don't need to know who wrote the
messages in my sent box (me!) nor whom the messages in my inbox are for (me!).

I know how to add and remove columns, both by right-clicking and in
Customize View, so I can get the headers back to the way they should be.

Problem is, an hour or a day will pass, and the dang things revert again.
How do I stop this permanently?

Try using /cleanviews switch instead of resetting the current view.
