I suspect and concurr with a friend of mine you may have a problem with your GFX memory maybe being damaged?

Graphics memory? Is there any way to fix this on a Dell laptop?

Cheers for the advice.

Mine used to go a very strong pinky colour, and it was the dodgy connection from the Graphics card to the monitor which was solved by a few gentle nudges to the connector.

It sounds to me like your graphics card is a bit screwed up, maybe damaged memory like Triple X Dread said.

How old is the laptop, and what is your graphics set up at the moment? Something integrated?

overheating perhaps, use the laptop on a hard flat surface as to not obstruct air flow
