I work in an office and I recently received an e-mail from an outside source
that was red when it arrived in my inbox. I was wondering how I would be able
to send messages to coworkers so that they also appear red when they arrive
in their inboxes.

Thanks.

If the message subject appeared red in your Inbox, then you have a rule
making it so. You cannot control the color others see when you send them a
message.
