Hi, I'm having a really annoying problem. When I create autoshapes in
Excel 2002 (XP), when I scroll down the page, and then back up, the
colour is distorted and ruined to look at.
It prints fine, but it is very annoying, and bad to look at. It's like
the colour just doesn't stay, lines and bits of colour vanish every
time this happens.

Has anyone had this problem before?

I've never seen this.

But Excel and other windows programs use the printer driver to know how to
display stuff. You may want to try a different printer (or printer driver) to
see what happens.

Maybe even download a fresh driver from the manufacturer's site.

Same thing with the video driver, too??? Or even fiddle with some of the
display settings--if you do this, make sure you write down the existing settings
before you do anything--so you can get them back to what they were before if it
doesn't help.

If that doesn't help, you may want to provide more details--what's the make and
model of your printer?

I have a similar problem but in reverse order. The problem is my video card
isn't up to the task!

Sometimes when I apply formatting it doesn't display properly. When I scroll
out of that area and then scroll back the formatting displays properly. It
has something to do with the refresh rate of the video. Specing out the
video wasn't a big priority when I bought this machine. Now I know better.

There's an acceleration setting under:
control panel|Display|Settings Tab|Advanced button|troubleshoot tab

Maybe you could try a few adjustments.

The problem isn't when I'm printing, it's more like T.Valko. It's when
I look it at it on my screen. I make a yellow box say, and it looks
perfect. I scroll down, and then back up, and on my screen there are
big white streaks in it. It looks awful, but it doesn't happen in Word
or Powerpoint.

I've played with the display settings, but with no luck! Doesn't
happen on any other machine.

Which settings did you try changing?

Did you try changing the screen resolution?

(Still just a guess.)

I tried all settings from 800x600 all the way up to 1760x something.

No luck. It doesn't happen on any other machine I have seen, at home
or work, which makes me even more puzzled.

Sorry, I don't have another suggestion.
