My son and I both had something similar but we had lines going up and down. It was due to a cheap power supply. A new 400w Antec fixed it. He had a 9700 pro and mine was a 9500 pro. All this happened while playing a 3d game.

Could be:

- Bad drivers (experienced this personaly)
- Bad video card memory (also experienced this)
- Overclocking too much (you guessed it, did this too!)

I've had suspicions about my power supply for a while. I was going to upgrade that anyway. Hopefully, that will help. Thanks.

I updated the drivers, but still have some problems. Not as much though. It could be the memory. One of the heat sinks is loose. I'm holding it in place with thermal paste. I haven't been overclocking. It started while playing Star Wars Galaxies, so I wonder if one of their updates contributed. Do you think it'll last the summer? I'm upgrading to one of the new cards then.

Do the power supply if you need a better one anyways. It can be the PS or
video card memory overheating in my opinion. Not enough power and/or too
much heat. Try playing the same game with the side off your case.
