Hello,

I am researching for a color laser printer to replace our Xerox Phaser
790 (fiery driven, postscript). It is for a pretty big office, but
mostly used by print designers (3). We need a workhorse with good
color, at least tabloid size printing, duplex is not necessary, and the
budget is around $12,000. The Xerox we have has lasted I believe 4
years and is need of replacing because of constant maintanence calls.
Any suggestions would help.

What colour quality do you need? Canon's CLC range have an 8-bit depth
in each colour, whereas the ImageRunner range seem to be 4-bit. (These
are copiers as well, I presume Canon will have a cheaper version without
the copy options).

Ricoh's Aficio range could also be looked at something like CL7000 IIRC,
which is purely a printer.

I need a high quality printer for our design department. It will print
about 25 to 50 pages/day so that we can 'proof' out print projects.
Duplex is not important abut tabloid size is (and at $12K, I'd hope its
pretty much given that it has tabloid capabilites). I do not think I
can go to Best Buy, Office Depot or Staples to find my answer so any
more suggestions would definitely be helpful. We just really need a
workhorse that will last some time and be reliable.

Thanks again.

Xerox Phaser 7500/7750 (some model number like that) should be a good
model to look at.

Also the current version of the Canon CP660.
