How do I color code Private appointments on my calendar so that I can easily
tell them apart from work appointments?

I want to make sure that I do not accidenatlly share personal appointments
on my shared calendar.

Outlook 2003, Windows XP SP2

create a custom view that colors appointments marked private or assign a
category.
