Is there any way to color code appointments? Multiple
appointments appear in grey and do not stand out from each
other.

The color-coding ability available for Outlook calendar folders depends on your version of Outlook, with Outlook 2002 doing the best job. See http://www.slipstick.com/calendar/colorcal.htm .

Note that this only works in Outlook 2002 and later.

Use the Label feature in Outlook. You can edit the names
of the labels to represent your appointments.
