I have 7 color task categories that are stable. When I create any more they
last about 60 seconds and then they disapear. They sometimes remain but turn
into uncolored categories that are not in the master list.
This instability is making me feel unstable.

Is time really the variable that makes it disappear or something else? Like
moving away from the folder and then back again?
Which addins are your running? Does disabling them help?

Does it work in Outlook Safe Mode?
Start-> Run; outlook.exe /safe
