Hi all,

I often make drawings (full color with pencils, ink or pastel
colors), and have to digitalize them for use as posters (max size
40"/100 cm).
Therefor, I need a scanner with optimal color accuracy, i.e. if
possible identical color balance as the orginal drawing.
The color choise is mainly light colors, with gradients made with
paint or pastels.

After browsing the net, I came up with Canoscan (LIDE 80 or 9900F) and
Epson perfection scanners.
Anyone having experience with those scanners, and compared it for use
of scanning of full color drawings? Why choose a 9900 over a Lide80?

Thanks

Philippe

I'm in a simular situation, choosing scanner for work (LIDE 80 or
8000F). The recommended price at Canons swedish distributer is the
same for these two scanners. I'm confused because LIDE 80 has a better
version of the system for eliminating dust (FARE level 2), 8000F only
has a more simple version of the same system.

The main difference I would think would be how the color is rendered.
I have been reading everything I could get hold of from Canon but
nowhere in there material I can tell that there would be any advantage
of the light tube reader over the diod reader. So why are the charging
a higher price? To me it seems like the LIDE system is ahead of the
others. Canon keeps the other scanners in
there assortment only to sell out their stock.

I also like LIDE 80 more since it has a more compact design.
