I have a internal combo drive that is dvd read it is a SM-HL-DT-STCD-RW/DVD
GCC-4243N from LG. I also have a external LITE-ON DVD BURNER SOHW-832S. I
have been to both of the manufactures sites and to several other site to
check if the drivers and firmware are up to date and they are. my drivers
that i have for them are as follows: cdrom.sys, imapi.sys, redbook.sys, and
storprop.dll

The drivers are the same for both drives. I have downloaded realplayer
version 11, I have WMP 9 and have downloaded MEDIA PLAYER CODEC PACK for my
codecs.

The combo drive will read store bought cd-roms but not cdr-rw or dvd the
external will read store bought and cdr-rw but will not read dvd disks. What
is going on? I need help.

The drivers are not from LG or LITEONIT,the drivers for the hardware get
installed thru youre chipset installation utility (AMD or INTEL,etc) then
usually
the drivers are from WHQL or the mfg of the boards hardware.
