codec issues

I installed sp2 and wmp10 and now when I try and burn a cd
almost all files have errors saying that wmp cannot play
burn or copy these files due to a missing codec. I have
installed the wmp codec patch and the files do play and i
have burned the same files before with sp1 and wmp9. what
can I do to fix this. I'm thinkin about going back to sp1
and or wmp9.
