Code 22 error

Both of my CD drives (CDROM, CDR/W) suddenly stopped
working this week. Windows XP says this device is
disabled (code 22), and that it cannot enable device.
I've gone through the safe mode startup - nothing obvious
appeared, and they still didn't work. What can I try?
