Windows disabled my DVD-RW and my CD-RW drives. Came up as a code 22. It
worked fine then I rebooted my system and windows says it cannot detect my
drives.
I went to the device manager and clicked enable and the message comes back
the windows cannot enable my two devices.

CD-ROM Access Is Missing and Messages Cite Error Code 31, Â*Code 32,
Code 19, or Code 39 After You Remove Easy CD Creator in WiÂ*ndows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default...b;en-us;314060

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
[Start > Run and type: REGEDIT , and hit enter]

2. Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

3. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

4. Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

5. On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.

6. Quit Registry Editor.NOTE: After you remove the Upperfilters value and the Lowerfilters value,
if you notice lost functionality in a particular program, such as CD recording software, you may need
to reinstall that software. If the problem recurs, consult with the software vendor for assistance.

7. Restart your computer.

Even better than that, which doesn't always work, and great care is required
when editing the registry or you could wind up with a very expensive
doorstop, is going into the device manager, hit the windows key and the
pause/break key at the dame time, click on Hardware, then Device Manager,
then click on the plus sign for DVD/CD-ROM drives, then one at a time, right
click on one of your cd or dvd drives, and click on UNINSTALL. Reboot and
let Windows redectect and reinstall them.

Worked very well for me. If the registry edit worked for you, then that's
all and well. But it did nothing for me.
