I just picked up an MSPress book on ASP.net with C#, and in the introduction
it said that there were (are?) plans for a COBOL compiler for the CLR at some
point in the future.

My dad (who wrote COBOL for many, many years) is interested in doing some
development in the near future, and was wondering how far out such a compiler
might be. Any ideas?

I'd prefer to see something in Visual Studio, but if there is some 3rd party
thing out there, that would be nice too.

Microfocus is moving towards Managed Cobol and plans to replace their
current Windows IDE with a VS .NET plugin.
