CMD Command Problem, please help.

Just started having a problem with the CMD command.

When I use START MENU, RUN, CMD the window appears, then just sits there
with the cursor flashing.

Can't type anything into it at all. I can exit it as usual. Just cant enter
enything.

If I navigate all the menus, and use the dos box that works fine.

Any ideas?
