How do I close a port on the pc network?
I intend using the program eDonkey2000 for downloadings. However, in view
of the various virussen I am advised to close open ports and make only 4662
(for edonkey) open. No idea :-(
This is a stand alone pc which has only XP (I intend using it only for
downloading to save my actual pc from crashing due to an infection or
hacking.
thanks.

You need to install a firewall on your client. You can configure the built
in XP firewall, ICF or purchase a 3rd party firewall. After installing the
firewall you will need to open the port required for your eDonkey
application.

Thanks Marc,
I already have my XP firewall enabled but I think that blocks the way
in/out for all ports (or am I misunderstanding something here?). I realise
that disabling it completely puts me at risk.
