Hi,

When closing Outlook 2003 under XPPro and then looking in Task Manager there
is a 50mb stub under outlook.exe still running. anyone know why? If I close
and reopen Outlook it will keep leaving multiple stubs there. Found 5
running recently.

The way I discovered this was trying to install and app that required
Outlook to be closed. I thought it was, no icons in the tray anywhere, but
then I found 5 exe's running under processes in TM (not running apps, but
processes)

Anyone have any insight into this?

Thanks!

Randy Starkey

This just means that you have some other application that has a tie to
use/protect outlook data. This list isn't exclusive but here are somethings
to look for...

1) Using Word 2003 as your email editor and Word is still open when you
close Outlook

2) PDA software

3) Fax software

4) Instant messenger apps (Messenger, ICQ)

5) 3rd party applications/addins (Acrobat [full version], Stamps.com,
iPod/iPhone because it can sync with calendar, .etc)

Good luck on finding the thing holding Outlook open.

Thanks for the info! I have several things it could be. At least now I know
the general reason.
