Cordell,
I have a "Juke Box" Excel program I use to play mp3's in live music gigs. I
shell to WinAmp with the name of the mp3 to play. To stop it, I send it a
very short mp3 of silence by shelling to WinAmp again. Might work with
Media Player too. WinAmp even dutifully does a quick fade. Nice. You're
welcome to look at it. It's at
http://www.smokeylake.com/excel/juke_box.htm. It's not very pretty. I
developed it as an experiment, and it worked so well right off I started
using it on gigs over a year ago, but never really cleaned it up.
