Prior to XP the colour of the upper left pixel becomes transparent when used as an icon. In XP it shows as black. Therefore make the upper left pixel a colour not otherwise being used. The term "microsoft clips" is your own made up word. I presume you are talking about bitmaps (bmp or Paint.Picture).
