PapaJohn,
That control-A worked like a charm to drag the segments to the time line -
thanks much.

Now the other problem to fix and I should be good.

When capturing, in the preview window I see four vertical lines spaced
approx. 3/4 inch apart dividing the capture window into 5 equal vertical
segments.

That's not all, the window is also horizontally divided by MANY tiny lines
running through each vertical segment. So now in each segment (5) I see a
duplicate of the captured video but can hardly make out what it is due to
the segmenting and distortion present. While capturing the audio is
perfect. Upon playback of captured video and audio all is perfect.

I've tried for over an hour to play with this to get it corrected to no
avail. Someone must have had the same problem but when searched through
messages I find no indication of that. A fix would be greatly appreciated.

Gene

Gene,

A couple thoughts on it... maybe your DirectX version - do a Start > Run >
dxdiag

and go through the tests.

Another thing could be your system dropping info during the capture....
it'll put as much energy into making the video file and, if your computer
can't keep up with also maintaining the preview, it'll drop info from the
preview window. If you've done it before OK with your computer, maybe just
tune-up your hard drive (free space and defrag) so it doesn't' have to work
as hard building the new file.

Grabbed a copy of the free program VirtualDub and it captures as AVI and the
problem did NOT appear on the VirtualDub monitor screen. I ran the dxdiag
test and all came out ok. Looks like more work investigating will need to
be done here. Will post a fix if I can find one........ Thanks for all the
help.

Just as a follow-up.

I installed some updates from MS and I noticed that my WinTV32 PCI card was
all of the sudden displaying the same problem with it's video. I played
around with some setting and noticed that the DEINTERLACE settings cleared
up the problem on the TV picture. It seems that perhaps going from MSMP9 to
MSMP10 might have changed some settings. I can't seem to find setting of a
similar nature for MM. I thought that MM used the same settings as WinTv
even though the WinTv has always worked when MM did not. Does anyone know
if there is a "global" setting for video? Thanks........... Gene
