Clipboard has stopped working

Last night (31 Jan, 2007) when logging off, my dropdown said Install Updates
and shutdown vs. the normal shutdown. OK, install updates.
Today, my clipboard does not work. Trying to copy text from IE to an
Outlook message and paste is greyed out. Tried to copy the url from IE to
Outlook message and paste is greyed out. In Office (Word), the clipboard
viewer opens and is EMPTY. I can't even copy from one email message to
another.
When trying to copy a word in MS Word, the Clipboard pops up from the
taskbar and says "Item not collected".
Is there any kind of control for the Clipboard that I can check?
