There is a clicking noise that occurs about every 30-60 seconds. It happens
when I am on the internet and off. It comes through the speakers but doesn't
seem to be a speaker problem. Oddly, it started happening after I tried to
run a CD that had info from an old computer on it - the same noise happened
on that computer as well. I have trend PC-Cillin and have run anti-virus
with no problems detected. Any ideas?

I have a similar problem (I posted it before) that every time the computer
is put on standby, sound stops playing. Oddly enough - just like your
problem, my speakers start emulating noises from the CD drive perfectly -
down to every last spin, click and eject. I have not yet resolved the issue,
but try searching for the newest drivers for your sound card.

I think I fixed it - at least temporarily anyway - I went into the
screensaver sound files and turned them off. The sound for everything else
is still working - I just don't have the annoying clicking sound.
