Clicking an email link does not work anymore.

Before I reformatted my hard drive, I use to be able to click on an email link and it would take me to my email site, right to the send mail line with the email address link already on the address to line, now it just sends me to my email and thats all. What can I do to be able to click on an email link and it take me to my email address line ready to send it? Please help. Thanks.
