clicking on desktop folders opens search screen instead of contents

i dont know whats happened, but whenever i click to open a folder on the
desktop, it opens up the search window instead, and when you right click on
a folder to use the open dialoge on the right click shell list, it has
search instead of open. how do i fix it? taa

Hi steve,

See if this fix, provided courtesy of Doug Knox, helps you to resolve the
problem:

Fixes the problem where Search or Command Prompt opens when double clicking
a folder
