When I click on my Control panel link an error box appears That is titled
"Intel(R) ProSet" and in the box it reads "Resources are not available" I
click on the "OK" button in this error box and the error box goes away and
then the control panel appears like it should. I am using a desk top computer
running Windows XP Professional on my home wired network. How do I fix this
error please?

Thanks for any help,
Dennis

Intel(R) ProSet appears to be for wireless.

See
Uninstall Intel PROSet/Wireless
here
http://www.intel.com/support/wireles.../cs-025792.htm

There is probably a screwed up .cpl file that is causing the Control Panel
problem.

Also see this...
How to remove an invalid icon in the Control Panel

Applies to corrupt files also.

Thanks Wesley,

The Intel(R) ProSet is not listed in my Add/Remove programs how else can I
locate it and fix/remove this program?

Thanks again,
Dennis

Hi Dennis,

Try this, it should list all of the .cpl files in the system32 folder. .cpl
files are Control Panel files.

Click Start, click Run and type CMD and press Enter. Type these commands and
press Enter after each line:

CD\Windows\System32

Dir *.cpl /a /b >C:\CPLs.txt

Now click Start, click Run and type or paste: C:\CPLs.txt then click OK.

C:\CPLs.txt should open in Notepad. Copy and paste whatever is there into a
message and post back. We'll try to figure out if there is a corrupt .cpl
file

That was fom here....

Hi Dennis,

This looks like the culprit. PRApplet.cpl = Intel PROSet

Try this.

Start | Run | Type: system32 | Click OK |

C:\WINDOWS\system32 should open.

Scroll down and locate PRApplet.cpl.

When you find it, left click PRApplet.cpl and drag it to your Desktop.

If the system32 folder window is full screen, resize it so that you can see
the Desktop.

Make sure that PRApplet.cpl is gone from the system32 folder, that you
didn't create a shortcut to PRApplet.cpl instead.

Now open the Control Panel.

If you get no errors, delete PRApplet.cpl from your Desktop.

All of the following are XP files...

access.cpl = Accessibility Options
appwiz.cpl = Add or Remove Programs
bthprops.cpl = Bluetooth Control Panel Applet
desk.cpl = Display Properties
firewall.cpl = Windows Firewall Control Panel
hdwwiz.cpl = Add Hardware
inetcpl.cpl = Internet Options
intl.cpl = Regional and Language Options
irprops.cpl = Wireless Link Control Panel Applet
joy.cpl =Game Controllers
main.cpl = Mouse Properties
mmsys.cpl = Sounds and Audio Devices
ncpa.cpl = Network Connections
netsetup.cpl = Network Setup Wizard Control Panel Applet
nusrmgr.cpl =User Accounts
nwc.cpl = Client Service for NetWare Applet
odbccp32.cpl = Data Sources (ODBC)
powercfg.cpl = Power Options
sysdm.cpl = System Properties
telephon.cpl = Phone and Modem Options
timedate.cpl = Date and Time
wscui.cpl = Windows Security Center
wuaucpl.cpl = Automatic Updates

These are 3rd party...

alsndmgr.cpl = Realtek Audio
cmdvdpak.cpl = Cineplayer
infocardcpl.cpl = Microsoft.InformationCard
ISUSPM.cpl = InstallShield
javacpl.cpl = Sun java control panel applet
nvcpl.cpl = NVIDIA Display Properties Extension
nvtuicpl.cpl = NVIDIA nView Control Panel = NVIDIA nView Desktop Manager in
the Control Panel
PRApplet.cpl = Intel PROSet
QuickTime.cpl = QuickTime

Dennis,

It may be a one time deal. No drivers were even mentioned.

I have one instance of Event ID: 7026, Event Source: Service Control Manager
in my records that happened to me. It only happened once and about a dozen
drivers were listed.

See this if you like...
