Cleaning up threads in emails

Has anyone seen a VB script for Outlook 2003 or some inexpensive (or free) utility that will clean up Outlook emails within Outlook or exported in a text file? What I would like to do is remove all the duplicate threading in the emails so only the most recent two remain. We get these long threads going back and forth because very few people take time to delete threads. And if you get a few responses to the email you sent out all those emails have the threads too. Very inefficient storage of data. I've been looking for a while and even have started designing something on my own using C++ but I'm just learning C++ so it will take a while and I don't have a lot of free time. Thanks a lot.
