I have tried to clean temporary files through the Disc cleanup. It will not
remove temporary files nor compress old files.

You need to provide specific details, not conclusions. How are you running
disk cleanup, what boxes are you checking, and what does or doesn't happen
when you run it? Error messages? Why do you conclude it will not remove
temp files or compress old files?

Why would you have to use that utility anyway?

Click START
Click RUN
Type %Temp% & press OK

Now press CTRL + A together (select all)
Press DELETE & then press ENTER

Simple enough I think

I hope this helps,

What utility? You need to quote at least a part of the message to which
you reply, otherwise there is no context and you're talking to yourself.
