Best for the Canon and a clogged printhead ? Small saucer receptacle of warm
water or Windolene (spray containers of dilute ammonia for cleaning windows)
to cover just a couple of millimetres leave for a bit and then blot dry on
tissue. This often works and may need to be repeated.

It's funny, the printhead on my Canon S800 clogged yesterday and I
cleaned it in much the same way as Tony did. In the states we call it
Windex. I'm not sure that the S800 printhead is the same size as
your's but I used a plastic 5" square food container, put enough water
in it to cover the printhead to the level just below the circuit board
making sure that it covered up to the level inside the head that has
the plungers that contact the cartridges. Then I sprayed some windex
in the water and on the plungers. I went through the procedure 3 times
until the water was clear. I let the printhead air dry after dabbing
off the excess water with some cotton balls. After it was dry and the
cartridges were installed, I ran the head cleaning utility within the
Canon software. The process worked great for me even though Canon
support said that they do not recommend printhead cleaning outside the
printer.

Good Luck,
Len
