How to clean up the "ghost" of the deleted records?

I deleted lots of records from the database. However, I found that the size
of the database is same as before which make the database very large and
slow. How to clean up the space used up by the ghost of the deleted records?

You can try Tools > Database Utilities > Compact and Repair...
