Should I do any specific maintenance after sp3 install (Microsoft Automatic
Updates)?

Defrag, for sure. That's all my machine needed.

      7th May 2008
Check for defragmentation and defrag as needed. Then make an image backup.
That's about it.

You probable also want to (eventually) delete all those uninstall directories
in the Windows directory that were created by the automatic updates.

Good point. I also ended up with an SP3 uninstall directory when I
downloaded SP3 and for some reason, that ended up in My Documents. Any idea
about that?

And don't forget, always do a chkdsk before a full defrag.
