Sorry for the long subject line, and yes, i did read the longgg post a few posts down

I've just done a "clean install" on a laptop that was extremely cluttered and almost full harddrive...i even had to delete alot of programs to have enough room to even begin installing XP..

This is an upgrade cd done as a clean install up from ME...it's a 6.03 gig harddrive, and after the normal *not altered* clean install, there is only 1.49 gig left, and i'm worried that after i reinstall all the microsoft office products and programs the owner of the laptop wants to keep, there will not be enough space left for the thing to function.

After looking around in the program files, i found alot of the programs from before, already there, but not functional..so I'm assuming the clean install didn't really clean install, and am wondering just how much of the taken space is being used by XP and how much is left over files from a bad install....

And also, now that it's been a "clean install" is it possible to do a fresh install (after an fdisk or something) with the upgrade cd, or will I have to load win 98 on it, then do the XP install?

Sorry to ask so many questions all at once, but this all needs to be completed in 4 1/2 hours...*lol this is gonna be tight*

Thanks in advance!
Jen

Hi, I hope this wont be too late for your download, but I
think the fast way to get to where you want to go is to
boot up with the upgrade xp cd, making sure that the
laptop bios is set to boot from cd first, which is done
by accessing the bios

the cd will give you options to reformat the harddrive
durint setup, especially if you choose the ntfs file
option instead of FAT. Then it should ask you to put in
a win98 cd that qualifies for an upgrade and after a
switch and back, you should be on your way, hopefully
before your deadline arrives...good luck.
